?Kevin Butler? and Sony Settle Lawsuit

Kevin-Butler

According to MediaPost, Sony has settled their lawsuit against ?Kevin Butler? actor Jerry Lambert, who had previously portrayed the role of a fake VP for the PlayStation brand, before ending his run in 2012.

Then Lambert went on and did a Bridgestone ad, where he was shown playing a Nintendo Wii ? that apparently didn?t sit too well with Sony, as Lambert was universally recognized by gamers as a Sony guy (fake as it may have been of course). ?The reason the Wii was even shown on the tire ad was that Bridgestone was doing a Wii giveaway, but that apparently didn?t matter.

Sony filed suit alleging that Lambert?s contract disallowed him from promoting any other system, even if it was inadvertently. ?The settlement says Lambert acknowledged this fact and his character caused confusion by being in the Bridgestone ad with the Wii.

As such, Lambert has agreed not to appear in any ads or promos that feature or mention any other gaming system for two years. ?Meanwhile, Bridgestone is fighting the lawsuit?in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California over the issue.
